Satchmo at DjangoCon

Unless you've been hiding under a rock for the past week, you've probably heard that the first DjangoCon is going to happen September 6-7 in Mountain View, California. What you may not know is that we have been honored to be invited to present a session on Satchmo on Saturday the 6th.

First, I want to thank Jacob Kaplan-Moss for thinking of Satchmo and inviting someone from the team to speak. It really is an honor that Satchmo can be part of this big event. I've had some discussions with John and Bruce and it's likely that several of us will be able to make it. The exact travel details are still pending so I won't go into those details here. Needless to say, we are planning to have as much representation as we can.

Now that we're on the schedule and know we will have at least 1 person there, we need to figure out what we are going to present. I definitely have plenty of ideas but I thought it might be good to throw out to the world and see what people would like to see.

Our talk is scheduled for 45 minutes and the audience will primarily be people very familiar with Django but probably less so with Satchmo. I figure I will do just a couple minutes of an intro and history but I want to leave the majority of the time to some more "meaty" topics.

So, what do you think? If you are going to be there, what would you like to see? Even if you can't make it, what sort of presentation would be useful for you? If you've been to these types of events in the past, what works and what doesn't?

Now is your chance to try to influence the process and help us make sure we represent Satchmo well.

I seem to recall you mentioned before how Satchmo really pushes the boundaries of the admin area customization. I, for one, would be very interested in hearing about that. Perhaps also a tie-in with newforms-admin integration.

I second that.

I third that.

You should post a video of your talk on this site.
